Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello WAPELLO, Iowa George Devore, 84, of Wapello, died Monday, Aug. 25, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Iowa City, The body has been cremated and there will be no visitation. The Rev. Scott Smith will officiate.

A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Devore was born Aug. 21, 1924 the son of David Earl and Merle DeEtta Callahan Devore. He married Ethel M.

Smith on Feb. 28, 1947, at Columbus Junction. He attended country school at Fairview. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After the war, he worked in bridge construction in Wapello. He then was an electrical lineman for REC for 35 years. He was a member of the Wapello Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He was a 60-year member of the IBEW Union Local 145. He was also a member of the 1.0.0.F.

Lodge and the VFW Glenn Allen Post 5166 of Wapello. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, and cutting wood in the timber. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; a daughter, Patti Reimers and husband, Ben of Muscatine; three sons, Don and Dan Devore both of Wapello, and Scott Devore wife, Sandy Devore of Letts; 10 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; three brothers, James Devore and wife, Dorthie of Wapello, Warren Devore and wife, Barbara of Burlington, and Robert Devore and wife Erma Lee of Burlington, He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Terry Dean Devore; three sisters, Edrie Fisher, Jean Foster, and Molly O'Banion; and two brothers, Vernon and John Devore. He married Shirley J. Chambliss on March 18, 1956 in Wilton. He graduated from the Wilton High School in, 1953: He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He farmed in the Wilton area. He later worked for Thermogas, Wilton, for 35 years and for the River Valley Coop.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton, where he held many board positions and sang in the choir. He served on Lutheran Hour Ministries Board for many years. He enjoyed playing softball, golf and camping. In later years, he enjoyed woodworking. The Rev.

Joshua Reimche will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Linda Timmsen. Casketbearers are Tom Moeller, Mike Peterson, Dave Nieman, Bob Timmsen, Jeff Samuelson and Keith Feuerbach. Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley of Wilton; a daughter, Marci Edwards and husband, Billy of Muscatine; his sons, Michael Grunder and his wife, Terri of Stockton, Douglas Grunder and his wife, Rochelle of Muscatine, Jon Grunder and Stephanie Peck of Blue Grass; his brother, Wayne Grunder of Stockton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Amy is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael Rudolph of Wake Forest, N.C.;, a son, Bryan, and his wife, Lana, of Peoria, a son, Nathan, of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Abigail, of Wake Forest, N.C.; her parents, Robert and Miriam Bosch of Muscatine; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Michael Dahnke, of Muscatine; her parents-in-law, Marcella and Robert Sullivan of Holladay, a sister-in-law and her husband, Connie and Josh Grillo of Galena, N.M.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Tammy and Doug Lam of Bolingbrook, and numerous nieces and nephews.
