5th Wilton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Janet Lee, to Thomas E. Boorn, son of Paul E. Boorn, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Florence Wells, Wilton. A March wedding is being planned.

Miss Petersen is a graduate of Wilton High School and is employed I at the First National Bank in Muscatine. Mr. Boorn is a graduate of Wilton High, served four years in the U. S. Navy and is employed at Wendling Quarries.

He plans to attend -Muscatine Community College in January. JANET PETERSEN Connie King, Murry Fitzer "Announcement 'is made of the engagement of Connie King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wells, Moscow, and Mr. and Mrs.

The next meeting will be Nov. 24 with the hospital committee in charge. The Academy of Friendship will hold their Christmas dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Moose home, Reservations or cancellations should be made to Verlee Stoneburner, 264-1040 or Rosabelle Burk, 263-4350, by Nov.

29. Reservations not used and not cancelled must be paid for. Catholic Daughters Plans for coming events were discussed when the Catholic Daughters met Monday evening at Hayes. Darlene Steele reported on the charity ball to be held at the Moose hall Nov. 28.

Tickets may be purchased from any member or at the door. The group will go. to the Riverview Heights Nursing Home Nov. 19 with games for the residents there. Anyone wishing to help should call Cheryl Broud or Darlene Steele.

Laura Barnhart and Phyllis Wagoner renewed their memberships. The next meeting will be at Hayes Dec. 8 with a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. There will be a $1 gift exchange and everyone attending is to bring some non-perishable food for the Christmas basket. Ont the committee will be Irene Dilly, Irene Kook, Viola Hayes, Margaret Donohue and May Lucas.

The program committee will include Margaret Derksen and Janet Derksen. Eastern Star Electa Chapter No. 32, Order of Eastern Star, had its official visit here Monday evening. Special guests attending the official visit were: Lucille Gremmels and John Thompson, Worthy Grand Matron and Patron of Iowa. Jacquelyn Carlson was soloist for them.

Eva Lu Murrison and Howard Miller, past grand matron and patron, were also presented. Grand officers included Elsie Miller, Verna Paulsen, Virginia' Martin, Shirley Stover and Naomi McElhinney; and past grand officers were Ruth Sywassink, Ruth Craig, Diana Maurer, Dolores Wood and Barbara Thompson. Grand representatives included Velma Bachtell and Dorothy McFadden, and grand chapter committee members were Margery Standley and Mary Wegmuller. Worthy matrons and patrons present included Kenneth and Lois Houseal, Columbus Junction; Lewis and Irene Shutt, New London; Kenneth and Wilma Arthur, Ainsworth; Virginia and Jack Martin, Lone Tree; Gertrude Black and Dennie Lanfier, Nichols; Dorothy Rosenboom, Trinity, Davenport; and Anna Russell, Washington. Ruth Sywassink was honored by the worthy Style Shop 203 E.

The Junior Grange will sponsor a bake sale and bazaar at the meeting of the Bloomington Garden Club TOPS 551 met "Tuesday evening at the YWCA. Best loser of the week was Diane Phelps. Sandy Danner was named member of the week and Mavis Shouse won the nameless can. Contest winners were Dorothy Shield, Mavis Shouse, Rose Kerr, Georgia Reid, Eva Bull, Pat Hatfield, Linda Faler and Anna Luethy.

Checking menus are Dorothy Beason and Ruby Hawley. Lorrene gave the program. Alpha Forum Members of Alpha Forum met at the home of Phyllis Hogatt Monday evening. A cookie scramble was held. The group later met at the Plaza for a session on furniture refinishing by Irene Lary.

The next meeting will be Dec. 8 at the Elms with a Christmas party. Food service Workers The River Bend Food Service workers met Tuesday at West Junior High. Following the business meeting, a silent auction was held. Evelyn Jewett and Lydia Weeks won the turkeys.

Other prizes went to Eugenia Elmore, James McCleary, Ray Eishoff, Joyce Bryant, L. Christianson, Vernon Gerard and Clyde Evans. A Christmas party is planned for Dec. 10 at George's Steak House. Reservations are due by Dec.

1 to Evelyn Jewett at 263-1978 or Betty Diercks, 263-0404. Cancellations can be made no later than Dec. 8. Margaret Freese was named the new secretary. Linda Koepping was winner of the special prize.

Ethics Club The name of Mrs. Joyce Swanson was omitted in the account submitted for the Ethics club presentation held. Monday night. Mrs. Swanson, Ethics president, gave the welcome, introductions, and closing remarks on the program.

She and Mrs. Ethel Hanft, club secretary, presided at the tea table. Women of Moose The Mime Group from Muscatine High School, under the direction of Elden Benedict, entertained in pantomime for the Women of the Moose at their meeting Monday evening at the Moose home. The library committee was in charge of the program with four new candidates enrolled in honor of Elnora Knapp, library committee chairman. The charter was draped in memory of Jean Buck who died Nov.

3. An invitation was read from the Davenport chapter inviting the members to their chapter night Nov. 13. when Gwen Peterson, international officer of the Academy of Friendship board, will be the guest of honor. Collegians attending may wear caps and gowns.

Reservations are now being taken for the Officers were named when the Muscatinel Garden Club met Monday in the Cabin Fever room at the Muscatine Plaza, Mrs. Ralph Taylor conducted the business meeting and annual reports were given by committee chairmen. Officers elected include: Mrs. Ralph Taylor, president; Mrs. Elmer Reichert, first vice president; Mrs.

Marlyn Hayes, second vice president; Mrs. Allen Hurlbut, recording secretary; and Mrs. George Globes, treasurer. Serving on the nominating committee were Erma Eichelberger, Evelyn Hurlbut, Malinda Henke and Ellen Hathaway. For the program, Mrs.

Paul Hurlbut listed the fall tasks to do in the garden before winter. Mrs. Don Morris gave many ideas for fall arrangements for holiday dinner tables and displayed several. The new backgrounds to be used at the flower shows were used and displayed for the first time. Miss Dorothy Hahn was the hostess.

On the refreshment committee were Mrs. Harold Hayes and Mrs. Milton Eichelberger. The next meeting will be the annual Christmas luncheon at the Zion Lutheran Church at noon Dec. 8.

Sajak is a graduate of Rock Island High School and is employed at Bell Auto Supply, YWCA Beginning Arabian dancing classes will start at the YWCA Monday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 Class fees vary as to the type of p.m. membership or if one is not a member of the YWCA. Classes will be taught by Ann Jackson of Muscatine. Intermediate classes are held at 6:30 p.m.
