Carman, 68, of Muscatine, passed away on July 17, 2013. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center, Muscatine. The Geo. M. Wittich- Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.

Terry Clark Carman was born on Jan. 12, 1945, in Central City, the son of Ernest and Elsie (Clark) Carman. On Jan. 3, 1969, Terry was united in marriage to Mary Gomez in Central City, Neb. He was a retiree from the Muscatine Police Force.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary of Muscatine; sons, Brian Carman of Muscatine, Nathan Carman and significant other, Will Cammack of Dallas, Texas and Caleb Carman and significant other, Amber Jackson of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Macenzie Carman, Ethan Carman, Kylie Jackson, Lexie Jackson, Morgan Jackson and Teagan Carman; special niece, Christy Archer; siblings, James (Paula) Carman of North Platte, Joanne Moderow of Aurora, and Gayle (Larry) Johnson of Sioux City. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Ronald Carman; and sisters, Fayette Green and Susie Austin. NORTH LIBERTY, Joseph Schaapveld, 59, of North Liberty, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his home in North Liberty after losing his battle with leukemia.

Following the interment, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Letts Community Center. Daniel Joseph Scaapveld was born on July 8, 1954, in Iowa City, the son of Harold and Wilma (Maher) Schaapveld. On Nov. 16, 1974, Daniel was united in marriage to Karen Bailey in Letts. Dan was a Probation Officer for the Sixth Judicial District, Department of Correctional Services.

He was a member of the Catholic faith and he was active in the Methodist Community. Dan will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Karen, of North Liberty; two children, Gabriel (Elizabeth) Schaapveld of Cedar Rapids, Stephanie Schaapveld of West Des Moines; four brothers, Gary (Helen) Schaapveld of North Liberty, Les (Joyce) Schaapveld of Lone Tree, Warren (Ann) Schaapveld of Iowa City, Lonny (Nancy) Schaapveld of West Liberty, as well as many other family members and friends. The closure will begin at the Muscatine and Louisa county line and extend north 6.8 milles to 231st Street (County Road G28). Access to adjacent residences and properties will be maintained. The detour route for northbound traffic will be east on County Road G40 (Louisa County) to U.S. Highway 61, north to County Road G28, then west on G28 back to County Road X43. The detour for southbound traffic will be the same route in reverse order.
