he graduated from sherrard high school in 1961. he married raeJean Petterson, his high school sweetheart, on Oct. 26, 1962, and began working for John deere Plow Planter that same year. The couple welcomed two sons, david Jr. and robert.

The boys have fond memories of their father teaching them to hunt and ish, and helping him at e-Z sports center, which he founded in milan in 1974 and owned and operated until 2015. dave was an avid outdoors man and participated in many ishing tournaments, b.a.s.s. anglers society events and enjoyed bow hunting. he was on the board of directors of arrO archery range and retailers association for many years and was a member of the milan rile club, where he served as territorial governor for the Illowa Irregulars cowboy action shooting club. he also co-founded the bass clubs for charity ishing tournament.

dave had a passion for street rods and motorcycles. he served as crew chief for both his son, robert and his grandsons, bobby and brandon, who raced go-carts for a number of years. Later in life, dave established, owned and operated, with the help of his wife and sons, e-Z acres alpaca Farm in sherrard. he was extremely fond of and found comfort in the constant, loyal companionship of his many dogs. The family will forever be grateful to his great-niece, skylor rowe, for her love, care and dedication to dave during his inal months.

Walter Joseph Droll cLareNce, Iowa Walter Joseph droll, 91, of clarence, Iowa, went to his inal resting place dec. 6, 2016, after a short illness. Funeral mass services will be 10 a.m. saturday, dec. 10, at st.

9 from 4-7 p.m. at Fry Funeral home, Tipton, with rosary starting at 3:30 p.m. Walter was born on the home farm in riverside, Iowa, June 20, 1925, to Jerome and Genevieve (Knebel) droll. Walter attended country school and st. high school, riverside.

after graduating, he helped his mother and uncle farm due to his passing. he went on to operate a Texaco gas station in hills, Iowa, and worked as a hired farm hand. In 1953, he moved to rural cedar county, Iowa, and worked with henry and es ther Von muenster on the farm, which he later purchased. Walter was united in marriage to eleanor ann ruth October 11, 1948, at st. catholic church, riverside.

They moved to rural stanwood, Iowa, where they raised their seven children. Walter was very passionate about his farming and he was sharp with a great memory right up until his passing. If there were any dates that you needed to know, just ask Walter, as he would walk over to the corn crib or the machine shed door and it would be written right there. he had a knack for remembering dates. he was a member of st.

catholic church, Tipton; Knights of columbus, st. church council, Tipton moose Lodge and served on the clar ence cooperative board. One of favorite hobbies was playing cards with his siblings and family. There was never a family event that he missed. Walter considered his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be his greatest blessings.

Walter is survived by his four daughters; Janet (Gary) Pasold, clarence; Joellen (mark) cook, mechanicsville, Iowa; Julie (mike) Tharp, Lowden, Iowa, and Jacqueline (scott) bohlen, durant, Iowa; three sons, Jerry (mary) droll, clarence; John (deb) droll, ridgedale, mis souri, and James (Kay) droll, stanwood, Iowa. also surviving are his sister, Veva (droll) Jenn, riverside, and his brother, reno droll, Tipton; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. he was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, eleanor; his grandson, Jayce; brothers, Vern and Ivo droll; sisters, evelyn schnoebelen, Luella beranek and infant sister, de lores. he attended san Felipe high school in del rio. being the oldest of 10 children, Frank left school early and began working to help support his family as a migrant worker. he worked for the savanna army depot and later the milwaukee railroad as a carman welder for many years until his retirement in 1995. Frank married Joann rivera dec. 8, 1952, in savanna.

They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary today. Frank was a member of st. John the baptist catholic church, savanna. Frank loved spending time outdoors, especially lower gardening and landscaping. Frank was a great handyman and could ix anything.

he also was a great cook, especially cooking mexican food. he enjoyed watching western movies and the andy Griith show. Frank also enjoyed watching sports, especially the dallas cowboys, chicago bears and the Iowa hawkeyes. most of all, Frank loved spending time with his family. Frank will be dearly missed by his wife, Lena; six children, dan (Kris Plattenberger) hernandez, savanna, Kathy (Tom) sennef, savanna, cindy estrada, sterling, Illinois, Pam (ranulfo) Villalobos, savanna, John (yvette) hernandez, Phoenix, arizona, and Thomas (michelle) hernandez, horse shoe, North carolina; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, ruben Gutierrez, del rio; and one sister, Pompella burley, Idaho.

Brian Shepley mOuNT PLeasaNT, Iowa The rev. brian J. shepley, 54, a priest of the diocese of davenport, died suddenly Tuesday, dec. 6, 2016, at his home in mount Pleasant, Iowa.

The rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. sunday, dec. 11, 2016, at st. alphon sus catholic church, 607 s. Jackson mount Pleasant.

The family will greet friends following the rosary until the time of the christian Vigil service, which will be 5 p.m. at the church. a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. monday, dec. 12, 2016, at the church, with bishop martin J.

(ewen) shepley. he graduated from charles city community senior high school in 1980. a 1983 graduate of North Iowa area community college, brian continued his education, receiving a b.a. degree in philosophy from st. ambrose university in 1988.

honoring his love for the Lord, brian obtained his master of divinity at sacred heart school of Theology in hales corner, Wisconsin, in 1992. Father shepley was ordained June 12, 1992, by most reverend Gerald at st. Joseph catholic church, in deWitt, Iowa. rev. irst assignment in the davenport diocese was as parochial vicar at church of all saints, Keokuk, Iowa, along with teaching religion at cardinal stritch catholic schools, Keokuk.

In July 1995, he was appointed parochial vicar at st. Parish, Iowa city. rev. shepley was assigned as pastor for st. Parish, Wilton, Iowa, and chaplain of assumption high school, davenport.

he also has served as pastor for st. bridget church, Victor, Iowa, and st. Patrick church, brooklyn, Iowa, before his current assignment in mount Pleasant. rev. shepley served on the Iowa catholic conference as a representative for the diocese of davenport.

most recently, on the Feast of st. andrew, Nov. 30, 2016, he celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination as a deacon in the catholic church and was looking forward to his silver jubilee as a priest in 2017. rev. shepley is survived by his sister, barbara (Les) Graham, eyota, minnesota; a brother, Tom (Jennifer) shepley, chester, Virginia; four nieces, erin (Lane) Johnson, emily (russ) Gehling, annamarie Koehler-shepley and audrey shepley; and two nephews, andrew Graham and John shepley.

along with his parents, rev. shepley was preceded in death by aunts and uncles. Brenda Kay Thiessen bLue Grass brenda Kay Thiessen, 63, of blue Grass, passed away dec. 5, 2016, at university hospitals, Iowa city, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 12 p.m.

Friday, dec. 9, 2016, in the runge mortuary chapel. Visitation will be 10-noon Friday at the mortuary. burial will be in rose hill cemetery in bufalo, Iowa. memorials may be made to the blue Grass Fire department.

James cITy, Fla. memorial services will be held for the rev. danny eugene millwood, 70, of st. James city, Florida, saturday, dec. 17 in Pickens, south carolina, in a private in- home service oiciated by dr.

randy sprague of Fort myers, Florida. The rev. millwood died in his Florida home Nov. 24, 2016, of congestive heart failure. he was born Feb.

6, 1946, in spartan burg, south carolina, to J.T. and eliz abeth (Pace) millwood (deceased) and is survived by his wife, Jeanne Workman-mill- wood, st. pastoral and evangelistic ministry spanned 50 years with the churches of God and the assemblies of God, during which time he recorded numerous gospel albums. rev. millwood was associate pastor to the reverend Tommy barnett at Westside assemblies of God church, davenport, and his last pastorate was in savanna, Illinois. his hobbies included baseball and golf, and traveling and camping with his wife, Jeanne, in evangelistic ministry. david arthur swanson was born may 23, 1980, in Iowa city, the son of danny arthur and deborah (blackwood) swanson. On march 17, 2016, david was united in marriage to rachel mercer in missouri. david was currently working as a slicer for Kraft Foods in missouri. he enjoyed camping, hunting, four-wheeling, country music and the outdoors. his greatest love was spending time with his children.
