The son of DeRoy and Blanche (Canady) Coil, he was born Dec.

14, 1946, in Columbus City, Iowa. On Nov. 9, 1974, he married Patricia Garrett in Columbus City. He was a graduate of Columbus Junction High School. He served in the U.S.

Army from 1966-68. He was a salesman for Kar products for over 30 years. He was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church. He was a 33-degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry; a member of the Columbus City Masonic Lodge 107, serving as secretary; Kaaba Shrine; Louisa County Shrine Club; Mohassan Grotto in Davenport; and was president of the Columbus City Cemetery Board and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Columbus Junction; one son, Robert and Katie Coil of Columbus Junction; four grandchildren, Robert Russell, Lily and Ryan; one sister, Judith Swailes of Columbus Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Gerry Bray. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday March 10, 2016, at Honts Funeral Home in eld, Iowa, with the Rev. Melanie Greengo ciating. Interment will follow at the Columbus City Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Columbus City Masonic Building.

Friends may call 1-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Honts Funeral Home in eld, where the family will meet with friends from 4-7 p.m. There will be a masonic service at 7 p.m. following visitation. In lieu of owers, a general memorial has been established in his name.

Donald R. Guttenfelder DURANT Donald R. Gut- tenfelder, 95, of Durant, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport. Don was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Davenport to Walter and Oma (Ruggles) Guttenfelder.

Don graduated from Durant High School in 1939. He married Janet A. Johansen on Feb. 11, 1948, in Davenport. Don farmed in Cedar County for many years and worked for Twin States in Durant, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, and the Big 6 Studebaker Club. He was a former member of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Chief Blackhawk Chapter in Davenport. Don and Net spent many winters in Mission, Texas, where Don was a member of the antique small engine club. life centered around farming and his family. He enjoyed square dancing, riding motorcycles and camping.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Oien, Damon Oien, Jared Stecher, Justin Stecher, Jason Daily and Todd Schwarz. Private family interment will take place at the Davenport Memorial Park. Don is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Janet Gutten- felder of Durant; his daughters, Bonnie Oien of Durant, Donette (Mark) Gri of Blue Grass, and Connie Stecher of Stockton, Iowa; and his sons, Ken Guttenfelder of Frisco, Texas, and Todd Guttenfelder (Shelley Roberson) of Wilton, Iowa; foster sons, Jim and Gary Ralston; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernadine Fitzer of Durant, and Shirley Gut- tenfelder-Hearne of McAllen, and his brother, Ray Guttenfelder of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Walter Guttenfelder and his sister, Marilyn J.

Smith COLONA Janet S. Smith, 63, of Colona, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m.

Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Riverside Foursquare Church in LeClaire, where she was a member. Janet was born Oct. 12, 1952, in Rock Island, the daughter of George and Helen (Boyer) Talbot.

She was united in marriage to Emerson Smith Jr. on June 19, 1982 in Colona. Janet had been employed in food service at Augustana College in Rock Island. She retired as a supervisor after 28 years. She enjoyed Elvis Presley and country music.

She also enjoyed camping, playing cards, bingo, dice and spending time with her family at their get-togethers. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Emerson; her daughters, Georgia (Jamey Sr.) Shoppa of Colona and Beni (Keith) Clinkenbeard of Bennett, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jamey Shoppa Emerson Shoppa, Hannah Shoppa, Joey Clinkenbeard and Abbi Clinkenbeard; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Rosemary (Ron) Mess of Princeton, Jane Talbot of LeClaire, and Florence Talbot of LeClaire; her brother, Bill (Ona) Talbot of Davenport; her close friends, Chris Abbott and Mary Kaplan; and two special to her, Donald and Brady. Janet was known as Granny by all and was a mother and grandmother to all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tammy Stotlar; her brother, Thomas; and her sister, Bonnetta Jackson.
